Synthesis Method

p-toluenesulfonyl chloride reacted with ammonia to generate p-toluenesulfonamide, and then condensed with urea under alkaline conditions to obtain the product.

Application

1. It is used as raw materials for organic synthesis, intermediates of tolbutamide.

2. It can be used as pharmaceutical intermediate.

3. It is used in the synthesis of Glyburide (G598350), a second generation sulfonylurea with hypoglycemic activity. Glyburide is an antidiabetic agent.
