Optical Brightener OB, CAS 7128-64-5
Optical Brightener OB is a benzoxazole-based fluorescent whitening agent with the chemical name 2,5-Bis(5-tert-butyl-2-benzoxazolyl)thiophene. It is also known as Fluorescent Brightener 184, BBOT, 2,2'-(2,5-Thiophenediyl)bis(5-tert-butylbenzoxazole) and Uvitex OB. CAS 7128-64-5 is widely associated with benzoxazole optical brighteners used in polymer and industrial applications.
The product functions by absorbing ultraviolet radiation and converting part of the absorbed energy into visible blue-violet fluorescence. This optical effect can improve the apparent whiteness, brightness and visual appearance of plastics, coatings, inks and other polymer-based materials. Optical Brightener OB is particularly suitable for applications requiring good thermal stability and compatibility with thermoplastic and polymer systems.
