Methylhexahydrophthalic Anhydride (MHHPA) is a liquid cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride widely used as an anhydride curing agent for epoxy resin systems. It is also known as Methylhexahydrophthalic Acid Anhydride and is commonly abbreviated as MHHPA. The material is used in thermosetting resin formulations where good electrical insulation, heat resistance and cured resin performance are required.
MHHPA is typically supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid, depending on product grade and composition. As a reactive acid anhydride, it can react with epoxy groups in the presence of suitable accelerators or catalysts and is commonly incorporated into epoxy resin curing formulations.
