Accelerator TMTD [ Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide ] Properties

Accelerator TMTD is a white to off-white powder (granules) with a relative density of 1.29. It is soluble in benzene, acetone, chloroform and carbon disulfide, slightly soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether and carbon tetrachloride, and insoluble in water, gasoline or dilute alkalis. When heated together with water, it decomposes to form dimethylamine and carbon disulfide, and has an irritant effect on the respiratory tract and skin.

Accelerator TMTD [ Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide ] Applications

In the rubber industry, it is used as an ultra vulcanization accelerator. It is often used in combination with thiazole-based accelerators, and can also be used together with other accelerators as an accelerator for continuous rubber compounds. Since it slowly decomposes to release free sulfur at temperatures above 100°C, it can serve as a vulcanizing agent. Products made with it have excellent aging resistance and heat resistance. It is suitable for natural rubber and synthetic rubber, and is mainly used in the production of industrial products such as tires, inner tubes, rubber shoes and cables. In agriculture, it is used as a fungicide and insecticide, and can also be used as a lubricating oil additive.
