Tetramethyl Guanidine
This product is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid. It is combustible, with a flash point of 65°C, a melting point of ≤-30°C, a boiling point of 160–162°C, a density of 0.918 (at 20°C), and a refractive index of 1.4962. It is a strong organic base and is corrosive. It is soluble in water, toluene, acetone, and acetyl compounds; it dissolves plastics such as PVC as well as ordinary rubber, and it readily hydrolyzes into tetramethylurea in alkaline aqueous solutions.
