Description

White crystalline powder or thin slice, with a weak phenolic odor, easily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, acetone, benzene, xylene, trichloroethylene, and dichlorobenzene. o-Phenylphenol and its sodium salts have high herbicide activity and broad-spectrum bactericidal and antifungal ability. They are also low toxic and odorless, making them good raw materials for preservatives and flame retardants.

Application

1. O-Phenylphenol is widely used in fields such as sterilization and anti-corrosion, printing and dyeing auxiliaries, and surfactants, as well as stabilizers and flame retardants for synthesizing new plastics, resins, and polymer materials.

2. O-Phenylphenol is a agriculture fungicide and is no longer used as a food additive. Used to make fungicides. Also used to make dye stuffs and rubber chemicals, but used primarily as a disinfectant cleaner.

3. O-phenylphenol is remarkably versatile organic chemical products, widely used antiseptic, auxiliaries and surfactant synthesis of new plastics, resins and polymer materials in areas such as stabilizers and flame retardants. It is used for the post-harvest control of storage diseases of apples, citrus fruit, stone fruit, tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables. It is also used for the protection of textiles and timber and as a fungistat in water-soluble paints.

4. O-Phenylphenol is used as a dye intermediate, plasticizer, rubber chemical and as a preservative in water-oil emulsions. It is used as an antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics and an antimicrobial additive in the manufacture of metalworking fluids, leather, adhesives and textiles. Further, it serves as a disinfectant in households, hospitals, nursing homes, farms, laundries, barber shops, veterinary equipment and food processing plants. It is also employed in the production of resins and rubber chemicals. In addition to this, it is used as a polymer material, stabilizer and flame retardant.
