3. Product Application of N-Bromosuccinimide
A. As an identification reagent, it is used as an identification reagent for primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols.
B. As a raw material for organic synthesis, it is widely used in anion bromination reactions and free radical bromination reactions of compounds such as alkenes and alkynes. It is used to regulate low-energy bromination reactions, for the commercial production of rubber additives and pharmaceuticals such as cortisone and vitamin D3, and for the synthesis of thiabendazole in the pesticide industry.
C. As a preservative, it is used as a fruit preservative, as well as a preservative and mildew-proof agent.
D. It is an important brominating agent and can be used for allyl bromination (Wohl-Ziegler reaction) as a selective brominating agent for olefins and alkyl aromatics. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is often used as a brominating agent in the synthesis of antibiotics, such as the synthesis of benzyl cephalosporin (Cefaloram).
E. It is an important oxidizing agent. In organic synthesis, it oxidizes ethanol to aldehydes and ketones, and oxidizes aldehydes to brominated acids. In the presence of AIBN, silyl ethers can be oxidized to aldehydes. It is used for the oxidation of tryptophan, but tyrosine, histidine and methionine residues may be oxidized to a lesser extent.
F. As a tryptophan modifier, it can also be used for the modification of ribosomal sulfhydryl groups.
G. It is a general bromination reagent, used for the oxidation of tryptophan, although tyrosine, histidine, and methionine oxidation residues may be present to a lesser extent; it is used for the group modification of ribosomal sulfhydryl groups.
H. It is used for the determination of ascorbic acid, which is used to determine ascorbic acid in pharmaceutical preparations, biological fluids, and fruits and vegetables.
