Description
Dimethyl Carbonate is a clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant odor. It is denser than water and slightly soluble in water. Vapors are heavier than air. Used to make other chemicals and as a special purpose solvent. Dimethyl carbonate is a carbonate ester that is carbonic acid in which both hydrogens are replaced by methyl groups. It is a flammable liquid with a characterstic ester-like odour and is used as a 'green' methylating agent and as a solvent. It has a role as a solvent and a reagent.

Application
1. DMC is mainly used for the preparation of polycarbonate, developer, electrolyte and pesticide herbicides. It is also used in the organic synthesis pharmaceutical industry. It can also be used for the preparation of amino oxazolidinone, ciprofloxacin, β-ketocarboxylic acid ester pharmaceutical intermediates, etc. Can also be used as gasoline, diesel additives, refrigerator oil and solvents.
2. Dimethyl Carbonate product can be used as traditional substitute of toxic materials phosgene, dimethyl sulfate and methyl chloride and so on. It can be used for synthesis of polycarbonate, diphenyl carbonate, isocyanate and allyl diglycol carbonate ester; it can also used for the synthesis of various kinds of carbamate pesticides such as carbaryl and so on; it can also be used as intermediate of organic synthesis such as anisole, dimethoxybenzene, alkylated aryl amines, symmetrical diamine urea, methyl carbazate and so on; in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used for making amino oxazolidinone, ciprofloxacin, β-keto acid ester class pharmaceutical intermediates. In addition, it can be used as additives of gasoline, diesel fuel, the refrigerator oil and solvent.
Storge & Handling
Store in cool, ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat source. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep container sealed. It should be separated from oxidizing agents, reducing agents, strong acids, strong alkalis, edible chemicals, etc., and avoid mixing storage. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area shall be equipped with spill emergency treatment facilities and suitable containment materials.
