Production Method: Derived from the esterification of phthalic anhydride and n-butanol.
Main Properties:
1. Dibutyl Phthalate primarily used as a primary plasticizer for cellulose resins and polyvinyl chloride, it is particularly suitable for nitrocellulose coatings, exhibiting excellent solubility, dispersibility, and adhesion. The resulting paint film exhibits excellent softness and stability, but its flame retardancy and durability are relatively poor. Typical usage in paints is 10% to 60% (depending on the paint's transparency and colorability).
2. Dibutyl Phthalate has good compatibility with pigments and can be used for coloring films, artificial leather, and plastic products.
3. Dibutyl Phthalatecan be used as a plasticizer and softener for natural and synthetic rubber, improving the product's resilience.

Dibutyl Phthalate Applications
Dibutyl Phthalate (CAS 84-74-2) is the major plasticizer for celluosic resin and PVC products, especially suitable for the nitrocellulose coating. It has quite good solubleness, decomposability and adhesiveness, as well as softness and stability. Since the good intermiscibility, it can be used to colored film, artificial leather and plastics, and also good plasticizer or softener for natural rubber in the aspect of improving the products’ rebound resilience.
