Description

It is colorless transparent oily liquid. This product is mainly used in organic synthesis, preparation of sulfonamides and identification of various amines. It is unstable. When placed in the air, it will absorb a large amount of water in the air, and gradually hydrolyze, so that the PH value will decrease. The volatilized hydrogen chloride will form white smoke, which is very irritating.

Application

Benzenesulfonyl chloride is a commonly used sulfonating reagent, which is mostly used to prepare sulfonamides, sulfonated esters and sulfones. It is raw material for Synthesis of plasticizer, pharmaceutical intermediate, dyestuffs. Benzenesulfonyl chloride is a commonly used sulfonating reagent, which is mostly used to prepare sulfonamides, sulfonated esters and sulfones.

1. Protection of amino groups (formation of sulfonamides). Benzenesulfonyl chloride is mostly used to protect amines, indole and other nitrogen-containing functional groups.

2. Formation of sulfonated esters. Benzenesulfonyl chloride can react with alcohols and N-hydroxy compounds to form sulfonate, and the resulting sulfonated ester group is a better leaving group.

3. Under light or Cu(I) catalyzed conditions, benzenesulfonyl chloride can undergo free radical addition reactions with alkenes and alkynes.

Benzenesulfonyl chloride is also an intermediate of pesticide, dye, and pharmaceutical. It is used in the manufacture of ice dye base, such as red base B, red base GL. Benzenesulfonyl chloride is a reagent for testing various amines.
