1. Antioxidant effect:

 

1.1 Inhibit oil oxidation: Petroleum products are prone to react with oxygen in the air during storage and use, resulting in oxidation and deterioration. 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol can capture free radicals generated during oil oxidation, interrupt the oxidation reaction chain, and prevent further oxidation of the oil, thereby extending the service life of the oil. For example, in lubricating oil, adding 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol can effectively inhibit its oxidation under conditions such as high temperature and metal catalysis, and maintain the performance of the lubricating oil.

1.2 Prevent the formation of colloid and precipitation: Oil oxidation will produce colloid, asphaltene and other substances, which will be deposited on the surface of equipment such as engines and pipelines, affecting the normal operation of the equipment. 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol reduces the formation of colloid and precipitation through antioxidant effect, maintains the cleanliness of oil, and makes petroleum products more complete and stable during combustion.
